It was here I saw my father chatting with the art reviewer of the Detroit News. It was 1981, the early 80’s.
He said my father wanted to know what he thought of a female painting swer words like CUNT BITCH ARTIST on a piece and letting the public view it.
The reviewer thought it was a insightful question. I was the one of two women exhibiting in this Detroit Art exhibit. Hetold my father that being an artist is not an easy career and being a female made it all the harder. He said I was strong and unafraid of being in a man’s world.
